EPISD Program Description:
Cosmetology Manicurist is a planned, two-year, 600 clock hour sequence of classroom and lab instruction designed to prepare students for the Texas Cosmetology Manicurist Licensing Exam. Cosmetology Manicurist I include basic training and development of manipulative skills in manicure and pedicure procedures; hand, arm, and foot massage; application of artificial nails to include tips, sculptured nails, wraps, and gels; and nail art. A strong emphasis is placed on the study of bacteriology, infection control, and safety. Also covered is anatomy of the arm, hand, foot, and leg and career opportunities. Students are responsible for the following expenses: cost of student permit, uniform, Nail Technology kit supplies and SkillsUSA dues. This is a rigorous course that may require students to obtain additional hours outside the regular classroom time. Good attendance is very important.
This course will prepare the student to pass the TDLR licensing exam and to prepare them for the world of work. This class meets every other day in the morning.

2. Cosmetics and materials to include: polish removers, pure acetone, massage lotion, alcohol, disinfectants, paraffin, cotton, trash bags, zip lock storage bags, sterilization pouches, etc.
3. Textbook-Milady Nail Technology 7th Edition, computers, PSI exam review material, etc.
STUDENT PROVIDED RESOURCES:
1. Students must be 16 years of age.
2. Pay permit fee to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) which includes the
TDLR Laws and Rules Book. $25.0

STUDENT PROVIDED RESOURCES:
1. Students must have completed HT3J50Y2 Cosmetology Manicurist I. At the end of the second year the students will be expected to take the state licensing exams.
2. Supplies needed for the practical portion of the state licensing exam.
3. Students must have a current government issued ID that includes their picture, name, date of birth, and signature. Students must have an ID to take the state licensing exam.
4. Exam fees of $50.00 for the written exam and $72.00 for the practical exam.
5. Students must show proof of a High School Diploma or equivalent to obtain their license.

- A student who receives a failing grade due to academic dishonesty shall not be allowed to redo assignments or retake a test. At the discretion of the teacher, a discipline referral may be issued.
- A student found to have engaged in academic dishonesty shall be subject to grade penalties on assignments or tests and disciplinary penalties in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Academic dishonesty includes cheating or copying the work of another student, plagiarism, and unauthorized communication between students during an examination.

Cosmetics and materials to include: polish removers, pure acetone, massage lotion, alcohol, disinfectants, paraffin, cotton, trash bags, zip lock storage bags, sterilization pouches, etc.
3. Textbook-Milady Nail Technology 7th Edition, computers, PSI exam review material, etc.
STUDENT PROVIDED RESOURCES:
1. Students must have completed HT3J50Y2 Cosmetology Manicurist I. At the end of the second year the students will be expected to take the state licensing exams.
2. Supplies needed for the practical portion of the state licensing exam.
3. Students must have a current government issued ID that includes their picture, name, date of birth, and signature. Students must have an ID to take the state licensing exam.
4. Exam fees of $50.00 for the written exam and $72.00 for the practical exam.
5. Students must show proof of a High School Diploma or equivalent to obtain their license.
